Letter to a Xavier Teacher Friday, May 1 2009

Dear Ms. Gafford,

I would never think that I would actually like to go to class.   I enjoy going to your sociology class on mondays, wednesdays and fridays this semester.   You are a very gifted teacher.  I like the way how well you relate our discussions and topics in class to things that we can relate to as young students.  It is refreshing to have a teacher still understands what it is like to be in school.  I really enjoy going to a class where I don’t fall asleep during your lectures or feel the need to text or play around with my phone throughout the class period.  One of my favorite things we did this semester in your sociology  class was when we had to act out something we learned in the book.  I found this very interesting and I know that most teachers on the college level would never do this.  Not only it was a very unique style of teaching that worked extremely well for me, but it was also very entertaining and i grasped the concept of what you was teaching that much better.  Ms. Gafford you also make it very comfortable to speak to you about the class.  It is good to have a teacher that is very approachable because most teachers aren’t that way. Ms. Gafford I wish that you taught other classes besides sociology because I would probably be the first person to sign up for your class.  Ms. Gafford you are probably my favorite teacher not only in my short college career but you are my favorite teacher in my educational career period.

You have made English fun for me again. I have learned so much more and it made me think about changing my major. You have made writing become an everyday part of my life. This will only take me farther in life. If i can write good and put in detail my thoungts i know i will have no problem with making all my dream comes true. I also want to thank you for showing what i need to improve on in my writing. I know it is not the best yet, but i know that if i keep doing what you said, which is going to the writing center and really proof reading and allow others to proof read, i can acheive those goals that i plan to reach sometime in my future. You helped me realize that writing can take me anywhere in the world i am willing to go. You also made reading fun for  me again. You helped me find books that grabes my attention. I know now what is in my intrest and i can now read books that are not to my liking. You taught me that you can always find something i a book that you can relate to or you know that happened to someone else. So i would just like to say again thank you and i hope i can contuinue to come to you for guideness.

Dear Dr. Webre,

I send this letter out to you because I feel as a teacher your someone who truly cares about thier students like all professors here, but I fee like you really out your soul into your teaching and all your students. You believe in us to know we can do our best and you havent stopped the whole way through the semester. Until our last paper you were there helping us and teaching us how to structure our paper well and I geuss I understand with this last paper the term of “the mother kicking the bird out of the nest”. I feel like were all your babies and that you just want us to suceed or “fly”. You are one of the many teachers here at Xavier who represent the Xavier mission and what they stand for and my letter is just a way to say I appreciate you!! Thank you for all the work and patience you’ve put in to me and you still saw good in me when I couldn’t see in myself. Thanks for a supportive year and hopefully we’ll have another!! Once again THANKS FOR EVERYTHING !!!!

Sincerly one of your loving students,

thank you Tuesday, Apr 28 2009

Dear Ms Renada,

I just want to thank you for all that you have done for me this year. I can remember when i first met you during my college tour and found out that you were my twins advisor. Even though you were’nt my advisor, i still acted as if you were. I know I used to drive u crazy sometimes, but u always went with the flow. You made me feel so comfortable talking and express how crazy my wild freshmen year was going so far and you always listened. You are the best advisor out of all the Biology Advisors and I so wished you were my permanent advisor . Even writing you this thank you letter cant express how much you have impacted me this year. When I am down you are always there to lift me up and when I just have a burst of energy that I need to get out you are still there, just going along with my crazy ways. If  I had to recommend and advisor to the upcoming freshmen, I would strongly recommend you! So thank you , thank you, thank you Ms. Renada for being the WORLDS  GREATEST ADVISOR.

Your adopted advisee,

Leah Verdin

Xavier’s Letter Tuesday, Apr 28 2009

Dear Dr. Birdwhistell

I am writing this letter to thank you for everything. I have enjoyed being in your chemistry lecture class for the pass two semesters. Even though we can barely miss class, I did not mind getting up at seven in the morning to go to your class. Being that we can get the answers on the internet for the modules, you make the material more clear and easier to understand. Another thing I liked about your class was the group quizzes that you would give. To sum this up, I really appreciate your efforts in making me and my classmates journey at Xavier a great one.

A Note To You Sunday, Apr 26 2009

To the work study administration:

I want to thank you so much for excepting me as a worker and treating me with every ounce of respect as possible. You were so understanding to me and you have taught me to be proffesional in the short amount of time that we have shared together. Everyone there is like another family to me. You have guided me in the right direction and have made it possible for me to be as flexible with work and school. You have shown me that school always comes first because without school you have nothing to live by or lean on. I am so happy that God has placed me in this position to learn from such wise loving and caring people. I greatly appreciate everything  that you have done for me and will always have you in my heart.

Thank you,

Sincerly,

Tannielle Howell

Letter to a faculty member Wednesday, Apr 22 2009

Dear Dr. Labat,

I would like to say thank you. Thank you for being a teacher that understands the way that students think today. You explain things in such a way that is simple yet are able to get the point across and relate them to real world situations. That makes things so much easier. Since Biology is my favorite subject I am happy that I have had the opportunity to have you as a professor this semester. I think that with your help I will be able to pass this course that so many of my friends deem impossible to pass.

Sincerely,

Chris Vicks

My personal letter Sunday, Apr 19 2009

Dear Dr. Labat,

My name is Tammar Williams. I don’t know if you remember me, but I took your biology 1230 class on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:15-2:30 in the Fall of 2008. I just wanted to tell you that I’m glad to have had you as a teacher and I hope that I can take another class from you in the future. I wanted to thank you for being the professor you are. I love the way you taught because you were always engaging and so interesting which is probably why I learned so much in your class. I always love hearing when my friends in your class this semester talk about how you brought out the slinky and the markers to explain concepts. My personal favorite is when you would tell us that jumping out of the window and just going down the stairs would use the same amount of energy, you wouldn’t jump out of the window. It always made me laugh. I just hope that I can learn a lot more from you in the future and thank you again for giving me and others a wonderful learning experience and making me remember why I love biology.

Sincerely,

Tammar Williams

Thank You Letter Saturday, Apr 18 2009

Dear Dr. Labat,

I am so happy that I got to have you as a Professor both semesters. I was  happy that  I had you as a lecturer for Freshman Seminar and Biology. It’s amazing how you didn’t change even though the subjects were very different.  You make everything you teach very understandable. The first time around in Biology I didn’t do well at all and almost considered changing my major. Having you the second time around I understand all the material very well. You are always willing to help anytime I come to your office in anyway that you can. Something that I will never forget is when I came to your office during first semester and I was really stressed out and you helped to see that I really can do anything that I put my mind to. I believe that we should have more professors like you here at Xavier. Finally I would like to that you for the Test Review sessions that you have and the quizzes that you put outside of your office. Those were AMAZING!

Sincerly,

Arielle Akines

A letter to Dr. Homan Wednesday, Apr 15 2009

Dear Dr. Homan,

Don’t give me an F for writing about you, but I had to because you are my favorite teacher. I’ve had the pleasure of being apart of your class for two semesters! What I like most about you is the fact that you arent afraid to say what everybody else is already thinking.  You say whats on your mind, and you don’t care what anybody thinks and thats what makes you, YOU! Anyway i’ve learned a lot from being it your class, you’ve taught me that students should volunteer because “Obama told us to.” lol Furthermore, i’ve learned a lot about cemeteries. I had no idea that they were in such bad condition now-a-days. You would think that with all the modern technology it would be easier to find one of your loved ones. Anyway, it was a pleasure to be in your class. I’m thinking about taking you for theology!

Your Student
